 I can say with much conviction, I never chose tattooing, though tattooing chose me.

 

Whilst serving in the Navy, I started drawing tattoos for sailors, which little did I know then,  was actually preparing me for what lay ahead of me and if not corralling me into the industry. I was heavily encouraged by some close friends at the time, to pursue a career in tattooing, which at first I rejected I have to say, though slowly but surely they wore me down. Was it curiosity or was it destiny, I wasnt sure, but aided by my faithful supporters, that not only fostered a deep belief in me, and nurturing my creative development in my formative years, facilitated my first steps into a wider world. Then, once I started that was it, there was no turning back. I look back now and it is with the most profound sense of gratitude and wonder that I had those people, at that time, to encourage and support me.  Respect.

                                                                                                              If this wasnt enough, fate would play another part in my tattoo journey with some very fortuitous opportunities allowing me to mentor under some great artists very early on, which not only accelerated my learning exponentially, but shaped the artist that I have become today. All this made me come to the realisation that this journey I had begun towards and into tattooing, was much more in the realms of providence than luck.  It had become my destiny.

 

That was 15 years ago, and from my very humble beginnings to working in Perth's premier studio, Five Star Tattoo in Fremantle, I have worked extremely hard to develop my artistic palette in ALL styles. However, I eventually chose the artistic paths that felt right......the paths that have called me to define my career.....
